Injecto-BOOM! (V1 Mini, V1, & 2) All-In-One Kits & Curated Grow Kits

7 Steps to Success:

  1. Wipe down your injection port (black dot) with the 70% alcohol wipe supplied. Visual learner? We have video tutorials at the bottom of our product pages.

  2. Open your syringe and needle and attach them without touching any part of the sterile parts. Doing so may contaminate your kit.

  3. Shake up your syringe and with intent and acknowledgment that you’ll grow and take care of a living, sentient being, inject 1 of your kits with 1 whole syringe. Sometimes with corn grain, the needle can get lodged in the corn. Slowly pull the syringe out and/or wiggle the syringe while injecting and it’ll be fine. Your syringe may be faulty, in which case you do not want to ruin all of your kits with a bad syringe. We HIGHLY recommend you purchase your syringe(s) from a reputable vendor. We want you to be successful and having a clean syringe is crucial. You can also verify the clarity of your syringe (intermediate/advanced step unnecessary for beginners) by injecting some on agar plates and comparing those to what is on our contaminated examples page. We have a video tutorial on how to test your syringes on agar in our YouTube channel!

  4. After your injection, you’ll have to wait for up to but not limited to 30 days for spores or 15 days for liquid culture before you’ll see signs of growth. Liquid culture is faster since spores need to first go through a germination period. Growth rates vary depending on your culture or spores and environment. If you see signs of growth within 3 days, it is possible your syringe has contaminated your kit. You can see our uncontaminated examples page to compare your kit! Store your kit in your home closet or another living space area where it is comfortable (temperature wise) for you and somewhere it will not be tampered with. Messing with the kit too much can slow growth! Keep your temperatures in the house tolerable for yourself. Don’t go much under 60f or much over 75f. No need to worry about humidity, the kit itself creates a climate within the bag.

  5. Once the mycelium (mushroom roots) have grown and consumed the grain or about 30-40% of your kit, you can now, without opening the kit, break, shake, and mix the kit up. After mixing, press the kit firmly back into a block. Make the top-surface of the block as flat as you can.

  6. Wait until the kit is FULLY white and consumed by the mycelium. If you already see a mushroom forming by this step, great! You can grow them within the bag by making a ~4in cut above the filter patch and make a fold like the photos in the Shiitake Guide at the bottom of this page. If you want to grow the block in a tub, Click Here for the video. Feel free to follow us as well!

  7. Then, wait until harvest! Do nothing else with your kit (other than spraying down the walls of the tote or bag with water once a day) until you’re ready to harvest your fresh, homegrown mushrooms! Scroll down to see when to harvest your mushrooms.

  8. After you’ve harvested your first canopy, submerge the block in cold water for 24 hours, put it back in the kit or tote (be sure there’s no pooling), continue to spray down the side walls with water and await your next harvest! You can do this as many times as your kit will continue to produce (from 3-7 times!)

  9. **Things we DO NOT recommend doing with your kit: Do not use a heat mats. Do not place your kit in a humidity cooler. Do not place your kit on a water heater. Do not place your kit in direct sunlight. Do not mess with your kit while it is propagating. 🚫

  10. **Things we DO recommend: Following the grow guide and being patient with yourself and your mushroom as they grow. ♥️🍄

*For curated kits , when your kit is fully consumed by the mushroom roots (myclium) cut a small slit at the top to let out air, fold the excess bag behind the kit, cut a 2” X at the front of the kit, and wait!

You’re ready to harvest when the caps are beginning to open or for lions mane, about 7-14 days after pinning. Simply twist and pull from the base of the mushroom. *We offer kits in sets of 2 or more so you can use a different syringe on each kit. This increases your success rate in the event your syringes are faulty. Always be sure to purchase your syringe from a reputable vendor or check out our liquid culture selection!

You can try to get more flushes out of your block by filling the bag with water and allowing the block to float for 24 hours. Drain the water and be sure there is no pooling. Fold the opening down like a chip bag and wait for more! Enjoy!

*The video we have on the product page is of a different version however, you can follow the steps all the same.

Grain and Coco-Coir Combo AND Adv.*1lb Grain & 1lb Coir Mix (italicized)

The **italicized portions are for the advanced 1lb combo, ignore those lines for the other grain & coco combos.

HIGH YIELDING

1. Wipe your injection port (black dot) with the 70% alcohol wipe. Shake then Inject your syringe choice of spores or live culture into the grain through the injection port. We recommend using our liquid cultures or purchasing from a reputable company if we do not have the spores or cultures you’re looking for. -See the Injecto-BOOM! Product guide, steps 1-4 at the top of this page for more helpful information about your syringe.

2. Wait until 1/3rd of the grain is consumed. Shake and mix the grain and wait again until fully consumed. (fully white and consumed by the mushroom roots [mycelium])

3. Break up both the substrate and grain within the bags

4. Cut open both bags at the top

—-At this point, you can mix into a clean tub OR keep following the steps below to fruit within both of the pre-cleaned ready-to-use bags. Use clean hands—-

THERE IS NO NEED TO RISK CONTAMINATION BY TOUCHING THE MATERIALS WHEN MIXING THE BAGS

5. Evenly mix the best you can each the substrate and grain into each bag.

**1lb coco mix (straw, coffee, gypsum) kit set: pour all the grain into the coco mix bag and mix the kit without touching the raw materials.

6. Flatten both kits creating a block form (as even and flat at the top surface area as possible.)

**1lb coco mix kit set: after flattening, the grain and coco mix will be a thin block. Create a humidity dome like step 7 says except, much smaller of a dome (~1-3in of space between the top of the dome and the surface of the flattened grain and coco mix.

7. At the top fold both bags down and tape it once to create a humidity dome. No need to make a cut since your bags are already cut open. There are photo examples at the bottom of this page under the “Shiitake Guide”. Keep both kits undisturbed in a cool dark place like a closet

8. When fully propagated, bring the kits into ambient light like a kitchen counter top leaving the kits just as the are with the tape holding the fold down. You need the humidity dome for great success!

**1lb coco mix kit set: increase the dome size to about 6-8in instead of the 1-3in like before.

9. Wait for harvest

10. Enjoy!

After the first flush (first cluster of mushrooms) lightly mist the grow bag twice daily (day and night) to help initiate the 2nd flush of mushrooms. To avoid over hydration, you will want to mist around 6 inches away from the grow bag.

If you want to get the most out of your kits after the second flush, fill the the bags with water and let the blocks soak for 24 hours, drain (no pooling water), fold the bag back into formation and hope for a 3rd flush!

Lion’s Mane Grow Block

Simply cut an X with 2in. slits in front of the kit and wait! You can also grow lion’s mane within the kit using the method shown in pictures 1-4 in the “Shiitake and Pioppino 5LB Block Guide”.

After the first flush (first cluster of mushrooms), harvest, lightly mist the grow bag twice daily (day and night) to help initiate the 2nd flush of mushrooms. To avoid over hydration, you will want to mist around 6 inches away from the grow bag.

If you want to get the most out of your bag after the 3rd flush, submerge the whole bag in water for 24 hours, drain (no pooling water), fold the bag back into formation and hope for a 4th flush!

For BEST results:

***You can create a simple humidity “fruiting chamber” by using a tote with a lid bigger than the kit, flip the lid upside down and spray the inside of the tote walls with water. Place the kit inside the tote, cut an X into the kit and spray the inside walls of the tote once a day.

You may instead choose to grow the kit within a fruiting chamber, martha, or grow tent. The paragraph above is a simple method of this. You would then cut a slit at the top of the bag by the seal, release the air, fold the bag under itself, place the bag in your new environment, and cut an X in the front of the bag.

*Our lion’s mane genetics have a wide range of temperature tolerance, however the ideal temperature is between 63f - 72f (17c - 22c) and the humidity level no lower than 85%+. This method will showcase the lion’s mane aesthetic and grow icicle like teeth after full growth.

Shiitake

These can be grown just as seen in the photos below, within the grow kit! Appropriate temperatures for the fruiting shiitake is between 50f-80f. If you have a grow tent or other fruiting chamber as mentioned above this shiitake and pioppino guide under “for BEST results..” simply cut open the kit with scissors at the top seal and place the kit with the bag within your fruiting chamber. If you would like to grow within the kit itself, read below!

Pioppino Mushroom Grow Kit
  1. Have your grow kit ready.

  2. cut a 5-7” slit at the top of the kit above the filter patch as shown in the photo.

  3. Retrieve a piece of tape or a laundry clip.

  4. Fold down the top of the bag and secure it with the tape or clip once. This is just a few inches from the top to the filter patch to create a dome as shown in photo 4.

  5. Patiently await your fresh, homegrown mushrooms!
